whirlpool dryer wont heat up?

the blower is rotating, the Heating Element turns on for five seconds then shuts off not sure if that's normal? If the element has a short what would it do? I think its the thermostat but need second opinion oh also their is very little air coming out the blower exhaust please help

I'm with Maplewood on this. I'm thinkin' you've got a clog somewhere in the vent line. most dryers have what some call a 'thermistor' or a thermal resistor. some are a breaker type . Yeah,...get after that clog.
