My Maytag Washing Machine is leaking or over flowing?

When i start a load of laundry in my washing machine, it works and then sometiimes doesnt work. I don't know if its leaking or overflowing. It's not spinning the water out all the way. Instead most of it leaks or over flows out of it. There is no water where the lid is. So i know its not coming from the top. And when i look behind the washing machine, all the tubs are still connected, but the water is all over the wall behind it and on the floor. This has happened twice already. Please help. Any answers are much appreciated.
It is not computerized or front loaded

I live in the midwest where the water is very hard. My Dishwasher leaks every once in a while until I use white vinegar in my dishwasher and my washing machine from time to time to break up soap scum.

I don't know if your Washer is leaking because of that but i notice a difference in how clean my clothes get when I run the machine with a gallon bottle of vinegar in a hot water load.

The dishwasher only gets a cup of vinegar at once.
