Is a stack washer and dryer worth it?
We are buying a house and need to get a washer & dryer. Are stacks as big as regular ones inside? Can they do a larger load of laundry?
I can look at them online, and have, but I want some personal opinions on them. We have enough room for regular, but want to save some room if we can.
We built an apartment on the house for my mother and installed Kenmore stacked "Duet Sport" washer and dryer ... front Load Washer. I love it, my mom hates it (bending to remove things from the washer, but likes not bending to remove things from the dryer). My mom's washer definitely has as much capacity as my very very old Kenmore Large Capacity Washer.
With the Front Load Washer in the stacked arrangement, I like the High Efficiency features and it certainly has a huge variety of settings and cycles.
In fact, I can't wait for my very old Kenmore to die so I can get a new washer like my mom's.
P.S. when you lose the "folding space" on top of the appliances, you also lose the temptation for the top of the dryer to become a permanent storage unit for items in transition.
