I would be very very careful firing steel shot through interchangeable choke tubes ! I have seen while duck hunting whole chokes coming out of a gun because steel shot was fired through the barrel .Steel wont travel as far as lead, doesn't have as much power. If i was you I would just get lead shot BB's instead of steel. To answer your question you should use full choke to keep the shot pattern tight and therefore a better chance of a kill. I opened an Eley 36g BB cartridge and counted 125 BB's so make sure you keep your pattern tight ! I use this cartridge for coyote hunting and have killed cleanly to about 70 yards with full choke, and let me tell you it left quite a mess ! with steel shot I suggest you limit your range to 45-50 yards!
