Can I stack my washer on top of my Dryer ?

We bought a new washer and dryer duo (Maytag Epic series), but unfortunately we've come to realize that once we stacked them, with the dryer on top, the electrical cord is too short!

I'm wondering if it's possible to stack them in reverse, with the Washing Machine on top of the dryer ?

Trust me that would not work. The problem being the weight issue for one thing. A washer is much heavier than a dryer even when they are empty. Add to that the additional weight of a washer full of water and wet clothes resting on your dryer. Also when a washer goes into it's spin cycle for instance it needs to be on a stable, level surface. It would be easier to replace the cord on the dryer with a longer cord. This is relatively easy to do. Just go to an appliance store and ask for a Dryer Cord or "pig tale" of the length that you need. They'll know what you're talking about and it is pretty simple to swap them out. If necessary have a service person do it for you.
