Ruth - I'm sure the army uniforms washed by KBR were not dry cleaned. I'm aware that dry cleaning costs alot, but $100 per 15 pound bag is excessive. This is just one example. As a fiscal conservative, I would think you would be concerned about wasteful spending no matter which Government department it is coming out of.
Privatization of govt services is fine...but pork is pork, there is no way around that. Do you think that NASA should pay $7000 for a toilet seat? Come one... privatization works if the govmt enlists the services of the lowest bidder to do the the work at the cheapest price. This is one of NUMEROUS examples where KBR or Halliburton overbilled the government for services either poorly rendered or not rendered at all.
A waste of taxpayer money is just that, whether you approve of where it's going or not.
