older sears hotpoint gas dryer wont heat up?

cleaned lots of lint out front and back heat stick lights up but only ignites gas occaisonally dont know what part i should be looking to replace

I had this problem with my dryer and it turned out to be the Gas Valve coils. The coils open up and allow gas to flow through so that you get combustion when the ignitor glows. You want to replace both of them and be sure to put them back in the proper position. A relatively cheap and easy fix with basic tools. There are some other possible causes for this such as the High Limit Thermostat. If this part has not been replaced you may want to put in a new one while you're at it. The high limit thermostat tells the dryer when to start and when to shut down to protect it from overheating. One other source of the problem could also be the ignitor but since you say it is glowing the problem is most likely the gas valve coils.
