Cooker Isolation switch and Legal Requirements?
I have just had a new kitchen installed with a dual Fuel Range cooker and the firm that have installed it have removed my old isolation switch for the old cooker and have not installed a new one. (My cooker was moved accross the room). Can anyone tell me if you are required by law to have an isolation switch?
Yes you MUST have a means of isolation, and it should be within 2 meters of the cooker, if they moved it, did they not extend the existing cable. did you look inside the base unit cupboards, it may be located in there? The switch must have a high enough rating to switch the full load of the cooker. Make sure you get an electrical certificate for this work.
