Question about dlink wireless network-thanks in advance.?
My wireless network wasn't connecting on my laptop computer, only on my main computer. I called dlink and they lead me to fixing it so that it would connect to the internet...but instead of it connecting to my network that i named (my surname) it's connecting to "dlink". Is that MY network from my main computer or is it theirs? The guy I spoke to wasn't very helpful at all and didn't explain anything...so I'm left confused. Obviously the network (dlink) that I'm connecting to is in range...so I guess it's mine? But why doesn't it have my original network's name? (P.S when I view the preferred networks under the network properties...it shows "dlink" and then it shows my surname named network...and that network has a little red x on it)
It sounds as if the dlink guy changed your network to default settings. This means that he disabled your old ssid and changed it with the default which is dlink. All you have to do is go into the router and change it back to your old. You will also need to change it on your wireless network card properties so that you can connect again. The one you have now with a red x just means that is no longer available.
