What is the burning smell from my dishwasher? There is nothing on the heating element.?
The last time I ran my dishwasher it started to smell like something was burning so I turned it off. The smell wasn't present the prior time I ran the dishwasher and there is nothing that I can see that got on the heating element. It looks like everything is "plugged in" and "connected" properly under the access panel (now let's be realistic, I have no idea what I'm looking at, but nothing is hanging loose). I would rather not have to pay a repair man, but I have no idea what to check, or for that matter, what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Did you smell the burning before you opened the door? If not, double check your heating coil. I'll bet you'll find a bit of burnt plastic from a mixing spoon or the like. It may be under the coil. If you have the option, run the Washer without the heating coil activated and see if you smell anything. If you still do, I agree with the others about your motor starting to burn out and you need a repairman or a new washer. They aren't all that expensive unless you want all the bells and whistles.
