Digital stove not working - can't use oven?
I have a Tappan digital stove and noticed this morning that the digital part of the oven isn't working (the clock and the oven). The range part on the stovetop is working, as it is a Gas Stove and is not controlled by the digital portion. The clock is displayed, but it is the wrong time (which is what made me notice the problem) and when I try and fix it, none of the buttons work (clear, clock, bake, broil, timer). So because the buttons do not work, I cannot use the oven.
Any idea what this might be? If the clock wasn't on I'd check a fuse or make sure it didn't come unplugged, but the clock is stuck on 12:52.
You can try to reset it by turning the power off to the range for app. 10 minutes. Turn power back on and see if you can reset the clock, use oven, etc. Usually when these digital oven controls go bad they display an error code (F1, F3, F7, etc). F1 is most common and just means you had a power outage. F3, F7 and other can mean bad sensor in oven (very common) or the control itself is bad. If you unplug for 10 minutes and it won't reset then you probably have a bad Oven Control and will require replacement - could run $200 or more to repair if that is the case.
