The higher the figure in Relative Humidity, the more moisture the air contains...Is this correct?

I want to control the humidity in our house with a dehumidifier. Our house get really damp especially in the winter. We are in the UK. The humidistat dial of my dehumidifier starts from "off" with bars slowly getting thicker until "continuous" on the other end. Does this mean if I set the dial near the "continuous" setting, the dehumidifier maintains a drier air and wetter as I turn the dial towards the "off" end? Or is it the other way around? The user's manual doesn't fully explain about this. Please help.

It is not necessary that increase in RH can cause the increase in moisture content . the y axis is moisture content and the x axis is dry bult temperature. The absolute moisture content will depend both on dry bulb temp and RH and not RH alone ! chilling systems also dehumidify and heating systems also dehimdify, it all depends on the process line on psychometric chart , A vertical drop in the process ensures drop in moisture content !

A dehimdifier is a vertical or inclined line from high moisture content to low moisture . if it is a heating type dehumidifier it will increase the DBT and decrease the RH to lower the moisture content!

if you on the demidifier , it will dry up the air , so it is maintained at continuous setting !
